Um transplante de tecido ovariano, realizado pela primeira vez na Europa, permitiu a uma francesa estéril dar à luz um bebê, anunciaram neste sábado (16) à AFP pelo médico Guy Kerbrat, ginecologista do Hospital de Parly II-Le Chesnay, nos arredores de Paris.
- Mãe e bebê estão bem. Victoria (2,850 quilos) nasceu por cesárea no dia 8 de março.
O professor Jacques Donnez, ginecologista da Universidade Católica de Louvain, em Bruxelas, realizou o transplante através de um "mini incisão" no abdômen.
- É a primeira vez no mundo em que é feito um transplante deste tipo entre gêmeas que sofrem de síndrome de Turner (anomalia cromossômica que afeta uma em cada 2.500 mulheres).
Também é a primeira vez que se realiza uma intervenção deste tipo na Europa, segundo a mesma fonte.
Em 2008, Susanne Butscher, de 39 anos, deu à luz uma menina em Londres depois de passar por um transplante de ovário procedente de sua irmã gêmea, mas esta operação foi realizada nos Estados Unidos pelo Dr. Sherman Silber, que posteriormente permitiu outros quatro nascimentos com um transplante entre gêmeas monozigóticas (idênticas), de uma mulher que sofria uma menopausa precoce, de acordo com Donnez.
Os transplantes entre gêmeas idênticas não precisam de um tratamento contra rejeição.

Poucos meses após o transplante, a paciente recuperou seu ciclo normal e depois ficou grávida naturalmente, sem recorrer à fertilização in vitro, disse à AFP o professor Donnez.
